The combined Port Adelaide Rotary Club and North West Business Alliance 2019 Business Awards were a great success this year. Record breaking numbers of community leaders and local businesspeople attended both the Gala Launch and the Gala Presention.

The combined Port Adelaide Rotary Club and North West Business Alliance 2019 Business Awards were a great success this year. Record breaking numbers of community leaders and local businesspeople attended both the Gala Launch and the Gala Presentation.
 
Because of the number and nature of the applications, it was agreed to increase the number of awards this year. Both Peter Kittle Holden and the Port Adelaide Enfield Council have continued to be the major sponsors for this rapidly growing event.

Flinders Port Holdings joined as a sponsor this year and have added to a generous group of local sponsors in including WOW FM, Viking Yacht Charters, and the Adelaide Business Hub.
 
Guest speaker, Alex Heidenreich spoke on the topic Enterprising Warfare - Entrepreneurial lessons learned in the deserts of Afghanistan.Alex has enjoyed a remarkable career. Being a former Australian Special Forces Commander and Chief Information Officer of the Australian Special Forces are just two of his achievements while in the military.
 
He is now a co-founder of Diamond Cyber Security, a fast- growing Australian cyber security firm. His presentation was fascinating and warmly received by the audience.

For the North West Business Awards there were a large number of applicants this year and a considerable number of worthy finalists. The finalists included Pete and Son’s Vehicle Transport, Big Shed Brewing Concern, Tick Tax Accountants, Glanville Hall, On the Run Port Adelaide Enfield, Port Adelaide EFM Gym, American Motors and Yarn Trader.

The highlight of the evening was the announcement of the winners by Wayne Phillips who did an excellent job as the MC.
The awards and certificates were presented by Greg Walkington, representing the Port Adelaide Rotary Club and Ray Hampson, the President of the North West Business Alliance. The winners were:
  • Entrepreneur of the Year:   Yarn Trader
  • Small Business of the Year:  Tick Tax Accounting
  • Business of the Year: On the Run, Port Adelaide Enfield
